
GOSHEN MAIN STREET DESIGNATED AS A NATIONAL CERTIFIED MAIN STREET
Torrington, WY – On behalf of Main Street businesses throughout Goshen County, Goshen Economic Development began the process of becoming a National Certified Main Street three years ago. The process included the addition of events such as 3rd Thursday’s and expansion of existing events such as Holiday activities. National Main Street Certification creates national exposure, provides additional grant funding opportunities, and results in a cohesive community.

Torrington, WY --- Goshen County held its Annual Membership Meeting on Thursday, October 28th at the Lingle Community Center. The membership elected one director to the board, Todd Peterson, to a three-year term. Celebrating 35 years of incorporation, President Scott Prusia welcomed members. Trenda Weisshaar, CPA presented the Report of Financial Condition which included accounting for the $5,666,583 dollars collected in the ¼ cent economic development sales tax, which has leveraged with $2,366,897 in matching grants bringing $7,168,936 in economic growth to the county. Chief Executive Officer, Lisa Miller kicked-off the Annual Recognition and Chamber Awards recognizing and honoring Goshen County citizens who demonstrate excellence and community leadership in volunteerism, entrepreneurship, work ethic, and business.

The winners were:
Big Chief Award – This award recognizes an individual who exemplifies community leadership through business and community service. Trenda Weisshaar of Weisshaar and Associates was this year’s Big Chief recipient.
Big Land, Devoted Pioneers – Ag Business of the Year Award: As the number one Ag producing county in the state, this award is for the people who either do or assist those dedicated to making a sustainable life in agriculture. Miller Cattle & Feed Yard/M Lazy Hearth Ranch Feed Store was this year’s Ag Business of the Year.
Big Land, Limitless Pioneering - Business of the Year Award: This award recognizes any business that has shown limitless growth and community support throughout the year. TDS Collection and Environmental Services was this year’s Business of the Year.

Big Land, Open Skies - Star Employee of the Year Award: This award recognizes an outstanding employee who is productive, exhibits commitment in carrying out job responsibilities, whose work reflects a frontier spirit, and is ever-growing. Marcy Cates was this year’s Star Employee of the year.
Big Land, Open Heart - Volunteer of the Year Award: This award recognizes those outstanding volunteers who are making a difference with their open heart, are dedicated to Goshen County, or has made a significant difference in our community. CJ Bohl was this year’s Volunteer of the year.
Big Land, Open Opportunity – Entrepreneur of the Year Award: This award recognizes those innovated and dedicated business entrepreneur(s) or product creator(s) that utilize the open opportunity of Goshen County. Wyoming Wellness Center was this year’s Entrepreneur of the Year.
Neil Newman Horizon Award: This award is for those who see a vision beyond the horizon. This year’s award went to Todd Peterson.
