CITY OF TORRINGTON / PANHANDLE COOP GRANT APPLICATION

Torrington, WY --- Goshen Economic Development in partnership with the City of Torrington applied to the Wyoming Business Council for a Business-Ready Community (BRC) Grant.  The grant request of $2.5 million was for the purchase price of the Wyoming Ethanol facility.   Panhandle Coop has covered all associated costs and expenses while investing an additional $1.5 million into equipment and renovations for the facility.  Panhandle Coop is turning the facility into a regional hub for their ag products and services thereby retaining their current Wyoming workforce and adding five additional jobs initially.  The City of Torrington City Council voted unanimously in favor of the Resolution of Support for the project at their meeting on October 6, 2020.

The Wyoming Business Council staff together with the subcommittee of their Board did not recommend funding the project. Goshen Economic Development in turn met with the City of Torrington Mayor and Panhandle Coop CEO where it was decided to withdraw the grant application.

Goshen Economic Development appreciates the investment Panhandle Coop has made in their current Torrington operations as well as their purchase of the former ethanol facility. Fortunately, for Goshen County, this project will continue moving forward.
